## ShipRadar verdict

DeepL translates typed text and whole Word, PowerPoint and PDF files, and its wording usually reads less stiff than Google's. The free plan gives 50,000 characters of text a month (roughly 8,000 words) and one file. Paid plans start at €7.49 a month on a yearly bill.

- Best for: The one document where the wording has to sound natural, like a cover letter or a message to a client.
- Not great for: Translating lots of files cheaply. The free plan allows 1 file a month, and the paid Individual plan only 3.
- Watch out: Free file translations max out at 5 MB. DeepL lists 'no data training' as a paid-plan feature, so keep private documents off the free plan.
