AI tools we tracked that shut down, went dark or were archived. Each one shows when we first logged it, when it went down and why, if we know.
This dataset covers 6 days. Our records start on Oct 13, 2026 and the daily uptime check started on Oct 18, 2026. Treat these numbers as a first look, not a survival rate.
The numbers so far
2 of the 381 tools and demos in our first snapshot (Oct 13) have gone dark since. One more, StableDAW, was already archived when we logged it.

“Logged” means the day the tool entered our records, not its launch day. The counts include tools we later took off the site for being off-topic or low quality; we keep checking those too. We’ve left out 2 entries that turned out not to be AI tools at all.

A Hugging Face demo that extended a picture in any direction with Qwen-Image 2.1. Made by a third party, not the Qwen team.

What counts as dead
- The site or demo is down on two days in a row: not found, gone, server errors or no answer at all.
- A Hugging Face demo is paused by its owner on two days in a row.
- The GitHub repo is archived, or the maker says it’s over.
- A website that answers 401, 403 or 429 is blocking bots like ours. That never counts. 12 sites did that on Oct 18. We still count them as alive.
- Tools we removed for being junk aren’t listed as dead just because we removed them. They have to actually go down.
