Trending this week

The AI tools people are talking about right now. We weigh who is talking, not just how loudly: a post from a top AI researcher counts for more than a random account.

The big models · always talked about, so we list them here instead

How we score this

We score momentum, not volume: how much more a tool is being talked about this week than in its usual week over the previous four. A tool that’s always discussed doesn’t top the list just for being big; one that’s suddenly taking off does, and tools launched in the last two weeks get a bump. Mentions are weighted by who is talking. Posts by the people we rate as top voices (researchers like Andrej Karpathy, Simon Willison and Ethan Mollick, plus leaders at the big AI labs) count the most. Popular Reddit threads count by how big the community is and how high the thread ranked. Hacker News stories count by votes. A community talking about its own tool (r/ClaudeAI about Claude) counts less. Products from the same family (Claude and Claude Code, say) share one spot. The big general AI models are always talked about, so they sit in their own strip below. No one pays to appear here. Quotes are copied word for word from the linked posts and cut to 15 words.
