Best AI to make a presentation (slides in minutes)

Gamma makes the best-looking first draft. Claude now makes slides on its free plan. Canva if your deck needs to match a brand.

The short answer

Start with Gamma. Type what your talk is about and it builds a full, good-looking deck you can export to PowerPoint or Google Slides. The free plan gives you 400 credits once, enough to try it on a real deck or two. If you already use Claude, its free Slides feature is worth a go before you pay for anything.

Gamma does the heavy lifting

Gamma is the closest thing to “describe it, get a deck.” Paste in notes, a document or a single sentence, and it writes the slides, picks a layout and adds images. You can also import an existing PDF or PowerPoint and have it tidied up.

Free gets 400 credits at signup that don’t refill, up to 10 slides per prompt, and Gamma branding on your work. Plus gives 1,000 credits a month, up to 100 slides per prompt, and removes the branding. Exports to PDF, PowerPoint, PNG and Google Slides work on free, which is the part that matters if your boss wants a .pptx.

Claude Slides, the quiet newcomer

Claude lists Slides as a feature on its free plan. If you’re already using Claude to think through what you want to say, asking it to turn that into slides saves a step. In our view the designs are plainer than Gamma’s, but the writing is often sharper. Pro ($20 a month, or $17 paid yearly) only matters if you hit usage limits.

Canva when it has to look on-brand

If your business already has colors, fonts and a logo in Canva, build the deck there. Its AI tools can draft text and images, and everything stays in your brand kit. It takes more clicking than Gamma, but the result looks like your company, not like an AI template.

Honest limits

No AI knows your numbers, your audience or your point. Write a short outline first: who’s watching, what you want them to do, three key points. Feed that in and you’ll get a deck you only need to tweak. Skip it and you’ll get ten pretty slides that say nothing. And use ChatGPT or Claude to rehearse: paste your slides and ask what a skeptical audience would ask.
